Elmstead Nursery
A TYPICAL DAY
Each day is divided into sessions, as follows:-
Morning Session 9am to 11.30am
Lunch Session 11.30am to 1.00pm
Afternoon Session 1.00pm to 3.30pm
Special Afternoon Session on Friday: Cooking Club - children will be making many different types of food to bring home and eat. There is an additional cost of £1.00 per session to cover ingredients.
A typical day is a mixture of adult-led and child-led activities.
The children can choose from a wide range of activities appropriate for their age and stages of development. We offer activities in all the areas of learning as specified in the Early Years Foundation Stage. These promote development in the following areas: Personal Social and Emotional, Communication and Language, Physical, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
During many of our sessions, we operate a free flow system when the children can choose to play indoors or out.
Mat time is when the children come together as a whole group for singing, story, showing, and the letter of the week. The nursery curriculum incorporates a weekly theme and children are encouraged to find items within the Nursery connected with that week's topic or letter.
Parents are provided with half term plans which outline the proposed weekly themes and activities. These are flexible and may change depending on the childrens' interest and requirements.
At lunchtimes, children can bring their own packed lunch or choose to have a hot dinner provided by the School kitchens (at a cost of £2.49).
